Well, it's that time of year again where Google doles out the readies to the young and eager of the programming world.
Thanks Google and thanks to all those involved in setting it up.
There's plenty been said about GSoC in blogs already so I'm not going to repeat. I just wanted to add a personal novelty factor and sense of achievement.
Last year I mentored Jakob Petsovits on a successfully completed GSoC 2007 project. This year, along with two other pingVision colleagues, I'm mentoring again. However, this time I'm taking a back seat as a secondary mentor to Markus Schanta.
So who is this year's primary mentor on our GSoC project? None other than Jakob Petsovits, my student from last year.
Well done, Jakob!

Heh
Nothing like getting public recognition by being mentioned on Planet Drupal :D
However, I'd like to stress that I can only mentor because a seriously cool and motivated student has applied for a project that falls into my area of expertise, and because that application was not only well done but also worked out in cooperation with the community, including webchick, aclight and myself.
So... let's not stress me for mentoring this thing but rather cheer on Markus for working on important code! Who knows, maybe I can do the backup mentor next year, with Markus being the primary one :D
Thank you...
... for the nice introduction! =D
For anyone who's interested there's also a wiki page about this project on groups.drupal.org.
On the wiki page you'll find an overview of what's planned, you'll see the current status of the project and of course anyone is very welcome to share his thoughts about the project!
